Spicy Vegan Beet Seitan – Mary’s Test Kitchen

This was interesting to make. Pretty much stick everything in the blender except the vital wheat gluten adding that later. I didn’t have a fresh beet so I used canned, so I’ll assume that is why mine wasn’t as red looking. I didn’t kneed by hand I used my blender that has a dough attachment, I did need to add an extra 1/2 cup of vital wheat gluten as the dough was really sticky. I also didn’t shape it correctly, as I hand’t watched the video duh! The cooked product tasted kinda nice on the outside but the inside tasted a little like it was under cooked.

I pan fried some in coconut oil with garlic, ginger and snap peas, it tastes way better and had a slight crunch.
